SEE -THRU HOUSE™ Produced Inspector Panel at Consumer Show

(ROSWELL, GA) - The SEE -THRU HOUSE™ program, known for its innovative approach to educate consumers about how a house works, has taken its efforts one step further. In a first-of-its-kind panel presentation, consumers were able to interact with key players in the housing industry—public and private inspectors, builders and remodellers, and a key member of the real estate industry.

“Everyone Loves to Blame the Inspector” took place on the Main Stage of the Atlanta Garden & Patio Show on Thursday, February 7, 2008, 4:00 P.M., at the Cobb Galleria Centre. The panel topic for this presentation was Code Secrets: Who’s Right? The Affect on Real Estate.

Frank Cooper the President of ASHI Georgia (American Society of Home Inspectors) Georgia, Gary Englebert the President of MAIA (Metro Atlanta Inspectors Association), Dan Weidmann the President of NARI Atlanta (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), David Ellis the Executive Vice President of GAHB (Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association), and Will Colley CEO of ERA Buckhead Realty Group will serve as panelists.

The developer of this panel is Stan A. Garnet who created the SEE -THRU HOUSE™ program through his company, We Teach House™ Institute.  He is dedicated to raising the educational standards in the inspection, real estate, and building industries.  Stan is also an ASHI and code certified building inspector.

The format examined adopted codes in Georgia which often defer to manufacturers installation instructions. The controversy arises when a builder or remodeler has to decide which instructions to follow. For example, when installing a new construction window, does the house wrap or window instructions take precedence and how will the code book influence the final install decision.  How will public or private inspectors interpret and resolve the code conflicts?

This subject was of interest to DIYers and homeowners  planning a renovation or remodeling project, or anticipating building a home, either production or custom. The audience was encouraged to participate with questions.
